1. Names of each Area’s member of the Nominating Committee submitted by the Assistant Governor for each Area to the DG by this date. 
2. Names of two PDGs to serve on the Nominating Committee submitted to the DG by the Chair of the PDG Council on or before this date.
 
February 1, 2020 (Saturday) – Candidate Interview Date
The Nominating Committee will interview each candidate on Saturday, February 1,  2020.

Rotary District 7230 is seeking nominations for
  • District Governor for 2022-2023 (DGND) and
  • District Treasurer for 2020- 2022 (two-year term). 
Set forth below are the qualifications for, and the procedure for the selection of both officers.
 
District Governor
One of the most important decisions we make in our District is choosing its future leadership.  The District seeks the most qualified person for the position of District Governor. 
 
The District Governor is an officer of Rotary International nominated by the Clubs of a District and elected at a Rotary International Convention. The District Governor’s term of office begins on 1 July and continues for one year or until a successor is elected and qualified.
 
Rotary International and our Manual of Administrative Procedure require that a District Governor have the following qualifications:
  1. Be a member in good standing in a Club in the District.
  2. Have full qualifications for such membership in the strict application of the provisions thereof. 
  3. Be a member in good standing who has no outstanding indebtedness to Rotary International or to the District as of the close of the year preceding that in which the Rotarian is proposed as a candidate for nomination for District Governor.
  4. Have served as President of a Club for a full year.
  5. Demonstrate willingness, commitment, and ability, physically and otherwise, to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the office of District Governor. 
  6. At the time of taking office as District Governor, the elected District Governor must have been a member of Rotary in one or more Clubs for seven years and must have attended the Governors-elect training seminar and International Assembly.

District Treasurer
            The District Treasurer is essentially the District’s chief financial officer, and as such, is responsible for maintaining the District’s financial records, and collection and disbursement of all District monies, in accordance with RI rules, the District Manual of Administrative Procedure, and all applicable State and federal laws.  See Section 1 of our Manual of Administrative Procedure, which is posted on the District’s Internet Site - rotary7230.org,
 
Applications
 
            Applications for each of the positions – DGND, and District Treasurer - must be submitted on or before January 20,, 2020
 
            The application should be in the form of a letter to the District Governor stating why the applicant is interested in serving and describing your qualifications.  It shall be signed by the applicant and the Secretary of his/her Club that states that the Club, at a Club Assembly endorsed his/her application.  Applicants may attach a curriculum vitae as well. The letter or curriculum vitae must show all Club and District offices and past accomplishments and any other information that would help the Nominating Committee understand the applicant’s managerial and leadership skills and accomplishments.
 
            The completed application must be sent by:
  • U.S. mail addressed to DG Mahbub Ahmad, 7 Scenic Lane, Yonkers, NY 10710; AND
  • Email addressed to ahmadm@gmail.com with the subject line "Application for District Governor 2022-23".
 
No application received after January 20, 2020, will be considered.  A conforming application received by Email on time will be accepted, as long as the original, sent by US Mail is received by the District Governor shortly thereafter. Receipt will be promptly acknowledged by Email.  If you do not receive a prompt acknowledgment, please contact the District Governor.
 
No Campaigning
            It is the policy of Rotary International and District 7230 that there shall be no campaigning for election to District Governor or District Treasurer.  Any such attempts at campaigning shall be promptly reported to the District Governor and/or the District Counsel, and will lead to summary disqualification of the applicant.
 
Nomination Committee
            The Nomination Committee shall be comprised of one Area Representative from each of the nine Areas of the District, and two members selected by the Advisory Council of Past District Governors.
 
            The Area Representatives (a) should be Rotarians in good standing and (b) have at least three years of membership in a Rotary club, and (c) should not have previously served in a Nomination Committee.  
 
            For selecting the Area Representatives, the Assistant Governor for each of the District Areas shall confer with the Club Presidents in his/her Area to discuss candidates and alternates for the Nominating Committee and to decide on the Nominator who shall represent his/her Area and the alternate Nominator.
 
            The Chair of the Advisory Council of Past District Governors shall submit the names of two Past District Governors selected by that Council to serve as voting members of the Nominating Committee to the District Governor.
 
            The Nominating Committee will select its nominations by majority vote. Nominations will be submitted to Rotary International for final approval.
All deliberations of the Nominating Committee are confidential.   Interviewees will be promptly informed of the result. 
 
Interview
The District Nominating Committee will interview candidates on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at a location to be announced.  Interviewees will be notified by email of the time and place of their interview. Should applicants come in earlier than his or her time, there will be a place to sit and wait. It is better to be early than late.  
 
All interviews will have a time restriction declared by the District Governor, who will supervise this event. All deliberations of the Nominating Committee are confidential.  After the interviews are complete, the Nominating Committee will by majority vote select the candidate for the two positions and inform the District Governor of its decision. 
 
Each applicant will be promptly informed of the result.  Applicants not selected by the Nominating Committee can apply in another year.

January 20, 2020:  Applications for DGND and District Treasurer due.
