2. Selection by the Council of PDGs of the names of two PDGs to serve on the Nominating Committee  submitted to the DG by the Chair of the Council of PDGs on or before this date.
 
December 1, 2018 (Saturday) – Candidate Interview Date
The Nominating Committee will interview each candidate on Saturday, December 1, 2018, beginning at 11 a.m.
 
DG & Treasurer Nominations solicited

Nominations are sought for

 (a) District Governor for Rotary Year 2021-2022, and

(b) District Treasurer for 2019-20 and 2020-21
 

Rotary District 7230 is seeking applications for our 2021-2022 District Governor position.  One of the most important decisions we make in our District is choosing its future leadership.  We are seeking the most qualified person for the position of District Governor. 

The District 7230 is also soliciting applications to become District Treasurer, a two-year term under Sub-Article C of Article IV of the District’s Manual of Administrative Procedure. The Manual is posted in our District website, rotary7230.org.

The District Governor is an officer of Rotary International nominated by the Clubs of a District and elected at a Rotary International convention. The District Governor’s term of office begins on 1 July and continues for one year or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Rotary International and our Manual of Administrative Procedure require that a District Governor have the following qualifications:

1. Be a member in good standing in a Club in the District.

2. Have full qualifications for such membership in the strict application of the provisions therefore, and the integrity of the Rotarian’s classification must be without question.

3. Be a member in good standing that has no outstanding indebtedness to RI or to the District as of the close of the year preceding that in which the Rotarian is proposed as a candidate for nomination for District Governor.

4. Have served as President of a Club for a full year.

5. Demonstrate willingness, commitment and ability, physically and otherwise, to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the office of District Governor.

6. At the time of taking office as District Governor, the elected District Governor must have been a member of Rotary in one or more Clubs for seven years and must have attended the Governors-elect training seminar and International Assembly.

The following instructions apply to all applicants:

Applications for both positions must be submitted on or before November 20, 2018 Applications should be submitted by both U.S. mail and Email. 

The application is in the form of a letter signed by you to the District Governor stating why you are interested in serving and describing your qualifications. It must be accompanied by a certificate, signed by an officer of your Club, that your Club at a Club Assembly endorsed your application.  You may attach a curriculum vita as well. Your letter or your curriculum vitae must show all of your Club and District offices and past accomplishments and any other information arising out of other public service and your occupation that would be relevant to your qualifications. Be sure that your application is complete and fully signed. The Nominating Committee will receive and review your application.

Please send the completed application by U.S. mail and Email, from this date on, but no later than November 20, 2018 to: District Governor Kris Chittur at kchittur@post.harvard.edu.

Any application received after November 20, 2018, will not be considered. However, a conforming application, together with all required documents, received by Email on time will be accepted, for so long as the US mail posted original is received by the District Governor within five days thereafter. Receipt will be promptly acknowledged by Email.  If you do not receive a prompt acknowledgement please contact the District Governor.

The District Treasurer is an officer of the District, and a member of the Budget and Finance Committee. The District Treasurer is responsible for the collection and disbursement of all District funds, and keeping the books and records of the District as it pertains to District accounts. For further details, see Article IV of the District’s Manual of Administrative Procedure.

It is Rotary International’s and District 7230’s policy that there shall be no campaigning for election to District Governor or District Treasurer. Proof of campaigning will lead to summary disqualification.

 

DEADLINES

This is the deadline for presenting a conforming application to be District Governor Nominee and District Treasurer to the District Governor in the manner described above.

October 31, 2018
1. The names of each Area’s member of the Nominating Committee must be submitted to the District Governor by this date. The Assistant Governor for each Area is responsible for getting this done on time. The Assistant Governors should get a head start on this task.

2. The selection by the Council of Past District Governors of the names of two Past District Governors to serve on the Nominating Committee shall be submitted to the District Governor by the Chair of the Council of Past District Governors on or before this date.

December 1, 2018 (Saturday) – Candidate Interview Date
The Nominating Committee will interview each candidate on Saturday, December 1, 2018, beginning at 11 a.m. The interviews will be held at a location to be announced. Each applicant for District Governor Nominee and District Treasurer will be notified of the time of his or her interview. Should applicants come in earlier than his or her time, there will be a place to sit and wait. It is better to be early than late.

All interviews will have a time restriction declared by the District Governor, who will personally supervise this event. After the interviews are complete, the Nominating Committee will by majority vote select the candidate and inform the District Governor within 24 hours. You will be promptly informed of the result. All deliberations of the Nominating Committee are confidential. If you are not selected by the Nominating Committee, you can apply in another year.
