To kick off August as Rotary New Club Development month, D7230 celebrates the approval of the charter of its 50th Rotary Club and the first cause-based Rotary Club in the District.  The new Club is named the Rotary Club of Blooming Rose, NY and was chartered on 19 July 2023 with 21 members, most of whom are physicians and mental health professionals.

The club is the 8th new Club in the District since early 2019.  It’s focus is “Empowering Women and Children in Abusive Domestic Relationships”, and “Raising Awareness of Communication Issues Between Immigrant Parents and their American-Born Children”.

Rotary International President R. Gordon R. McInally in a letter to the Charter members of the new Club said, "Chartering a new club is exciting and challenging. The key to success is building a strong, engaged membership dedicated to the idea of service, ranging from local community-based projects to major global initiatives. Together, we will accomplish great things as we serve local and international communities as we Create Hope in the World".
Club Charter President Dr. Nasrin Khan, a Rotarian for more than 4 years, said she was elated at the quick approval by Rotary International of the Charter application.  She expressed her appreciation for the help and guidance she received from District Innovative Club Advocate and Area Governor Bina Ahmad.  Charter President Khan expects to organize a modest official Charter ceremony in the very near future. She also said the awareness raising seminars she organized last year, were very well-received and will continue. She hopes to organize two seminars a month. She thanked District Governor Rev. Dr. J. Loren Russell and the District leadership team for assisting new Clubs through the rebate of District dues for the first 2 years, which, she felt, will greatly help the club build a solid foundation.  The Club has already established a strong online presence through its Facebook page at fb.me/bloomingrosenyrotary, and is working on its new website.

The addition of this new club has boosted the district's membership roll, which has shown a modest increase since the beginning of this Rotary year and now stands at almost 1,218.
