Greetings fellow Rotarians and Rotaractors!
It didn’t take long for the summer to come… and go! September has arrived and with it the autumn season. Some of us are soaking in the last of the summer season and taking advantage of the final moments of the summer sun. But the reality is, it won’t last much longer. So, whether we like it or not, we all must prepare for cooler weather and the annual “raking of the leaves.”
Personally, I am preparing to make the annual Governor visits with every Rotary and Rotaract club in our district. I’ve had the privilege of visiting some clubs already, while others have been, or are being scheduled. Each meeting’s time and location are posted on the district website. Please plan to attend your club’s meeting. I want to meet and greet every Rotarian and every Rotaractor in our grand and glorious district.
I’ve been looking at club web sites and seeing spectacular projects taking place locally and on the international front. Even from the website, your enthusiasm is infectious.
If you are a regular visitor of the district website, which I hope you are, you will find many service projects that you can, as a club, or individually, support. You will also see several district-wide events and projects that we hope you’ll fully engage.
Let me close this month’s newsletter with a word of inspiration from my book, Matters of Faith, from the chapter entitled, “Service Above Self” (guess where I got that from!). I wrote, “I do not need a title to serve. I do not need a position to serve. I do not need a great deal of resources to serve. All I need is a willingness to be of service. The same goes for you.”
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Rev. Dr. J. Loren Russell
