Service Above Self Award: Bina Ahmad
District 7230 Assistant Governor Bina Ahmad, Charter President of the District's newest Club - the Rotary Club of Sunshine NY was the recipient of the 2022 Service Above Self Award.  She joined the Rotary Club of White Plains in 2009 and moved to the Rotary Club of Yonkers-East Yonkers in 2013.  
 
The Award was announced by the Rotary Awards Committee in February 2022.  Only 150 of the 1.4 million Rotarians around the world were selected to receive this prestigious award this year.  Bearing in mind COVID restrictions, District Governor George McKinnis presented the award which consists of a crystal plaque and a distinctive pin, to AG Bina at a small ceremony.
 
Bina is a self-starter and is always actively on the lookout for service projects. She has given of herself not only in terms of time and money but also of empathy and a genuine inner desire to be of service, who can be relied upon to see a project to its conclusion.
 
About the Award
The purpose of the Service Above Self award is to honor outstanding Rotary and Rotaract club members whose service activities deliver an impact to humanity. The award is granted to up to 150 Rotarians and Rotaractors each year, and no more than one recipient from each district.
