District 7230 Rotarians in front of our tent
Ten District 7230 Rotary teams participated in the annual Alzheimer’s Association - Westchester County Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 4th. The Walk’s main purpose is to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's care, support and research.
More than 1,900 people from all over the county came to the Valhalla campus of SUNY Westchester Community College on a cool and cloudy afternoon. Our Rotary tent was full of energy!
This year, there was a noticeable increase in funds raised by our district clubs from Westchester and the Bronx. Our team used emails, Facebook and telephone calls to raise money. Altogether, the district had raised more than $57,000 to-date, far surpassing last year’s total.
A shout-out to Gordon Aydelott (Bedford-Armonk) and Marian White (Larchmont-New Rochelle), our top-two fundraisers. Gordon’s team was ranked 4th and Marian’s 6th among the 300 Rotary clubs participating nationally.
A special thank-you to Ed Birdie, our Rotarian on stage as the Yellow Flower holder, representing all caregivers. A welcome to the Sunshine NY Club, joining our team this year. Click here to see more pictures contained in the event photo album.
The Walk is over, but fundraising continues through December 31st. Keep sharing those pages and let’s see how much higher we can go!
